Marti Barletta's GenderTrends News

Greetings, Friends and Fellow Marketers:

Although it is just a few weeks into 2007 I can already tell that this is going to be a wonderful year. It began with a bang when PrimeTime Women: How to Win the Hearts, Minds and Business of Boomer Big Spenders hit the bookstores shelves and e-tail sites.

And the good times continued. I’ve had the good fortune to be included in a group of authors and speakers known as Women Gurus founded by Sally Helgesen. Until January when we all gathered in New York, the Women Gurus existed as a virtual network. We had exchanged e-mails and had a few conference calls but held no actual meetings. Our mission was clear – providing organizations and the media access to a consortium of world-class female thinkers, writers and consultants – but we didn’t really have a game plan. And now, thanks to the time we spent together, we do.

I often tell our clients that there is no substitute for "face time" and we build regular checkpoints into our TrendSight consulting timelines for that very reason. The two days that I spent with this talented group of women reminds me that meetings like this are not a luxury, they really are a best practice. Energy and good ideas were abundant and I am sure that you will be hearing more about the Women Gurus in the months and years to come. Be sure to visit the site to learn more.

To celebrate all of this Marketing to Women good fortune I would Iike to offer something special to you. I hope that many of you are familiar with EPM’s monthly Marketing to Women newsletter. It is one of my favorite resources for current stories and statistics and I look forward to its arrival each month. EPM is generously offering GenderTrends readers a free three-month trial subscription. There is not much fine print but the offer is only available to those who are not current subscribers. I hope you find the Marketing to Women Newsletter as timely and useful as I do. Thanks EPM!

Warm Regards,
Marti Barletta
