Is Your Business Prepared for PrimeTime?
Is Your Businss Prepared For PrimeTimeTM?

You’ve heard it before…college enrollment is at an all time high.  But have you heard that adults 55+ are responsible for much of that growth at the community college level?  According to the Chicago Tribune enrollment in Oakton College’s Emeritus Program has “swelled from 9000 to 23,000” in less than five years.  69% of two year colleges offer programs for this demographic (vs. fewer than 25% in 1990).

What is your business doing to attract and retain customers and capitalize on this trend?  PrimeTimersTM are going back to school because they’ve found themselves “bored stiff” with retirement activities and want to “keep growing” and socialize.   Is your brand evolving to engage with them?

The lesson here is simple -- Businesses that want to thrive in the decades to come are going to have to adapt to meet the needs of Boomers.  Colleges had to develop new programs but your path to success may be different.  Communications that resonate (and don’t neglect font size please!), packaging that makes sense for smaller households, menus that reflect health and wealthness concerns and increased customer service are going to attract this crowd and boost your bottom line.
